There are many organizations and professional societies to join at The University of Texas at Austin, and the following groups are relevant to the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering. An overview of other Cockrell School of  Engineering related organizations can be found at the  Cockrell School’s Office of Student Life webpage. The university also offers a host of  student groups and organizations from recreational sports teams, special interest or political groups, to religious, honorary, and social organizations. American Institute of Chemical Engineers

The University of Texas at Austin American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Student Chapter is an affiliate of the national organization. Membership is open to all students majoring in chemical engineering and mostly involves undergraduate students. Formal meetings are presently held each month.  An extensive program of professional activities, social events, and participation in intramural sports is carried on throughout the year.

Omega Chi Epsilon, Epsilon Chapter

Omega Chi Epsilon (OXE) is the national honorary society for chemical engineering graduates and undergraduates who have exhibited high scholastic achievement and desirable personal qualities within the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering. Meetings are held at announced times during the academic year. One of the core goals of the society is to initiate meaningful student faculty dialogue. The group also encourages original investigation in chemical engineering, and recognizes the valuable traits of character, integrity, and leadership.

Graduate Chemical Engineering Leadership Council  

Graduate Chemical Engineering Leadership Council (GLC) is a unified council that is responsible for the management of professional enrichment, service, social, financial, and recruitment activities as it pertains to chemical engineering graduate students at UT. 

Graduate Student Executive Committee

The Graduate Student Executive Committee (GSEC) acts as a liaison between chemical engineering graduate students and the faculty through regular meetings with the department chair and graduate advisor. GSEC seeks to improve and maintain the overall quality of graduate student life in the graduate program.

American Chemical Society, Central Texas Section

The American Chemical Society (ACS), Central Texas section is the local section of this national organization and meets once a month. Prominent speakers tour under the auspices of the national organization and the local chapter presents results of their research at meetings. All students studying chemistry and chemical engineering are invited to these talks.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Balcones Fault Section

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Balcones Fault Section comprises of students who live in Austin, San Antonio and surrounding counties. Meetings are held monthly, with a cocktail hour, banquet, and technical talk. Some meetings of the local section are held at The University of Texas at Austin.

Chemical Engineering Women (ChEW)

Chemical Engineering Women (ChEW) is a graduate student group that fosters community among graduate women in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering at UT Austin through social events, faculty seminars and other community-building activities.

Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Womxn 

Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Womxn (UChEW) is an organization providing an academic, professional, and social network for undergraduate women in ChE at UT Austin.
