Background:
Michael Koetting is originally from Lubbock, Texas. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in May 2011 with a B.S. degree in chemical engineering. During his time at Texas A&M University, Michael completed internships in the front-end process engineering division of MEMC—where he worked to improve design and efficiency of manufacturing units for production of silicon wafers—and in the research and development division of Eastman Chemical Company—where he improved control system design and overall process efficiency within the Materials Handling unit. Michael additionally completed a collaborative design project with students from the Texas A&M University at Qatar, designing and optimizing plans for a chemical plant for the production of aromatics from naphtha. Michael came to The University of Texas at Austin in August 2011, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering under the guidance of Dr. Nicholas Peppas.
