Background:

Diane received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Iowa State University in May 2010. As an undergraduate researcher, Diane developed and implemented an alkaloid extraction and purification protocol for Catharanthus roseus hairy roots under Dr. Jacqueline Shanks. She also designed a soybean biodiesel experiment for an undergraduate laboratory course. Diane is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin under the direction of Dr. Peppas as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
