laboratories were doing internships in European
and Japanese Universities and companies.
Here (from left): Professor Paolo Colombo,
Patrizia Santi (now a professor at Parma),
Surya Mallapragada (now a professor of chemical
engineering at the Iowa State University),
Chris Brazel (now professor of chemical
engineering at the University of Alabama)
and Dr Alessia deAscentiis who did a portion
of her PhD in the Peppas laboratories. Alessia
was the first one to observe the importance
of chain interprenetration as a method to
promote mucosal adhesion of polymer carriers.
