NAMS Travel Awards

The NAMS Travel Awards will be presented annually to outstanding individuals who are near the start of their professional careers in membrane science and technology. Preference will be given to graduate students, post-docs, and new faculty members (during the first two years of their initial appointment).

Applicants who have not received any kind of prior NAMS Travel Award will receive priority. Current NAMS Board Members are not eligible to apply.

Each award will provide up to $1250 reimbursement for reasonable expenses associated with attending a NAMS Annual Meeting or membrane-related meeting or conference. Preference will be given to applicants attending a NAMS or ICOM meeting. Applicants must be current members of NAMS and must agree to write a one-page report on the meeting which will be published in a future issue of the NAMS Membrane Quarterly. Reimbursement will be distributed after the meeting upon submission of appropriate receipts and the one-page write-up on the conference.

Application materials (submitted as one electronic PDF file)

  • the following items must be submitted as a single PDF file or the application will be rejected:
  • one-page resume describing the applicant’s education (including undergraduate and graduate GPA) and research experience (publications, posters, patents, presentations),
  • 1-2 page letter written by the applicant describing (i) her/his interest in membrane science/technology, (ii) applicant’s current research, and (iii) which meeting he/she will attend and how attendance at the meeting will be beneficial to their research/career, and
  • one-page nomination letter by faculty or industrial supervisor who is a current member of NAMS.
