2. UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA
BIOFUELS INITIATIVE
The University of Oklahoma is expanding a multi-department biofuels initiative,
supported by the National Science Foundation EPSCoR program and the Oklahoma
State Higher Regents for Education, to strengthen and complement existing
programs in botany and microbiology, chemical engineering, chemistry and
biochemistry, and mechanical engineering.
As part of this initiative the University invites applications for
tenure-track assistant professor positions. We are seeking two individuals
to develop world-class research programs related to biofuels generation
and/or utilization. The desired areas of expertise are, for example (but
not limited to): algae production or processing, bacterial engineering,
bioinformatics, carbohydrate chemistry/biochemistry, chemical/biochemical
characterization, combustion, pyrolysis, plant genetic engineering,
sustainability, and separation processes.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree and a record of
research accomplishment. The successful individuals will also be expected
to contribute to undergraduate and graduate education and provide leadership
for the Biofuels Initiative. Applicants should submit a curriculum vita, a

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech is seeking to fill the
Joseph H. Collie Distinguished Visiting Professorship. The Collie Professorship
requires expertise in the broad area of chemicals distribution management.
This could include, but is not limited to, modeling and optimization of material
distribution networks, developing strategies for chemical marketing, and
understanding and analyzing the global chemical business. Candidates should
have demonstrated expertise in one of these areas as evidenced by a successful
academic record or distinguished accomplishments in a nonacademic environment.
The Professorship is ideally suited for a faculty member on sabbatical leave,
or for engineers and executives from industry or government interested in a
short-term academic appointment. The holder of the Collie Chair will be
expected to teach an undergraduate elective course in the general area of
chemicals distribution management consistent with their background and
expertise, plus advise undergraduate students about opportunities in this
