Undergraduate Advising

Under the supervision of the undergraduate faculty advisory, the office provides assistance with academic advising, degree planning, registration procedures, degree requirements, course prerequisites, and departmental policies and procedures. Advising is also provided by individual faculty advisors who meet with CHE students during early registration periods. Undergraduate peer advisors also staff the front desk and provide valuable information and advice about the undergraduate experience.

Tutoring

Free tutoring and paid private tutoring are available on campus. Free engineering options are available as well as free one-on-one and group options at the Sanger Learning Center.

Current Students

• Current students can schedule advising appointments, find registration information, and view degree plan details by accessing the CHE undergraduate advising Canvas group.
• The ENGR Direct Students page is an important resource for all engineering students.  It contains information about college-wide academic policies, scholarships, tutoring, career resources, study abroad experiences, and many other important topics.

Non-CHE Students

• Students of all majors can indicate their interest in CHE courses by completing the non-major waitlist survey

Prospective Students

• The Cockrell School of Engineering website contains information for newly admitted students, prospective first-year students, prospective external transfer students, and prospective internal transfer students.
• The 2022-2024 catalog lists CHE undergraduate degree requirements and the suggested arrangement of courses.
• Students are required to have a laptop and can view laptop requirement details here.

Coursework

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering requires 129 semester credit hours for completion. Many students can claim credit by exam for some degree requirements through college credit from eligible exam scores (AP, IB, etc.).

Required Semester Credit Hours

• Chemical Engineering Classes – 45 hours
• Physics and Chemistry – 29 hours
• UT Core Classes – 27 hours
• Math – 16 hours
• Technical Electives – 12 hours

ES 333T can be taken in any department within the Cockrell School of Engineering.
