For more than 20 years UT RecSports has hosted Party on the Plaza (POP) on Gregory Gym Plaza as a welcome to new and returning students of The University of Texas. The event features games, food, fun and the largest student organization fair on campus with over 200 student orgs who want YOU to be their newest members.
POP is a welcome-back-to-campus party for the entire UT community. All proceeds collected the day of the event benefit the UT Student Emergency Fund. The Dean of Student’s Office-Student Emergency Services maintains the support fund primarily to help students in emergencies or dire financial straits due to loss of income from tragic or catastrophic events. Since 1999, the Party on the Plaza has donated over $51,500 to the fund and other charitable organizations. Longhorns helping Longhorns. Is there a better cause?
POP GOALS
- Offer a large number of activities/games to create a “something for everyone” atmosphere
- Donate money to a worthy organization
- Promote RecSports to new and returning students
- Provide the opportunity for student organizations to promote their activities Provide an opportunity for the units within Student Affairs to promote their services
