Have you imagined integrating your body tissues and electronics to control household appliances with simply a blink of the eyes? Or to continuously collect data and monitor the health of your body using simply a smart phone? These novel concepts may have existed so far only in sci-fi movies or fictions, but to bring them forth to reality has been a true challenge facing the researchers today.
On November 20th, we will invite Dr. Nanshu Lu, an assistant professor of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at UT Austin, to share with us her invention of “electric tattoo” that has strong potential to realize the above scenarios. She has been recognized by Technology Review magazine as among the world’s 35 top innovators under the age of 35. Some of the other recipients of this award from the same year include Daniel Ek (founder of Spotify), Drew Houston (creator of Dropbox), and other rising stars in material science, electronics, information technology, and other fields. These 35 innovative research directions will change the life of next generation and impact the future of science. Just as the chief editor of Technology Review said, “We hope that these stories about them surprise and inspire you.”
